CHANDIGARH, Aug 18: Commonwealth Youth Programme (CYP) Awards were given away, at a function organised at the CYP Asia Centre, Sector 12, here today.

Welcoming the awardees, regional director of Commonwealth Youth Programme, Seela Albert provided details of the "CYP Asia Awards for excellence in youth work". Seven persons were awarded on the occasion, including two from Sri Lanka, two from Bangladesh and three from India.

High Commissioner of Bangladesh, C. M. Shafi Sami was the chief guest, while secretary of Human Resource Development Bhaskar Baruah was the guest of honour. Local MP Satya Pal Jain was also present on the occasion. The award presentation was followed by a cultural programme.
