
Cases have been registered against former BJP MP Ram Vilas Vedanti for his alleged directive against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, police said on Thursday.
The Crime Branch registered the cases on Wednesday night based on a complaint preferred by S Jayakumar, president of Coimbatore District Kalaignar Tamil Peravai, police said.
The cases were registered under IPC 153 and 153-A promoting enmity between two groups or religions IPC 505-b and 505-c spreading rumours and 506 clause II of IPC threatening life, they said.
The Chennai police had also ago registered a case against Vedanti following a complaint by a city resident on Sept 24.
Vedanti has denied that he issued a directive to 8220;behead8221; Karunanidhi for his alleged anti-Ram remarks.
