Gangasagar Mela 2026: Railways to run 18 special local trains daily for pilgrims – Full list, time table
Gangasagar Mela 2026 full timetable, routes, stops: Regarded as the second-largest pilgrimage gathering in the country, the Gangasagar Mela is held at the confluence of the River Ganga and the Bay of Bengal on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.
Gangasagar Mela special train 2026, Gangasagar Mela 2026:Eastern Railway (ER) will operate 18 special EMU local trains to clear the expected surge of pilgrims during Gangasagar Mela 2026. Regarded as the second-largest pilgrimage gathering in the country, the Gangasagar Mela is held at the confluence of the River Ganga and the Bay of Bengal on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.

The nearest railway stations to the Gangasagar Mela site are Kakdwip and Namkhana. From station, pilgrims must take local transport to reach the ferry ghat. It will take approximately one-hour ferry journey to the mela site.
“To clear anticipated rush of pilgrims during Gangasagar Mela-2026, Eastern Railway will run 18 Galloping EMU Mela Special trains daily from 10.01.2026 to 16.01.2026 in different directions from Sealdah South/ Kolkata station/Namkhana/ Kakdwip.
Out of 18 EMU Mela specials, 06 trains will leave from Sealdah South, 02 trains from Kolkata station, 09 trains from Namkhana and 01 train from Kakdwip from 10.1.2026 to 16.1.2026,” the Eastern Railway said in a statement.

Six (6) Mela Special trains will leave Sealdah South at 06:15 hrs. (to Namkhana), 10:45 hrs. (34424 DN will extended up to Kakdwip), 00:01 hrs. (to Namkhana), 01:23 hrs. (to Namkhana), 02:55 hrs. (to Namkhana) & 14:40 hrs. (to Namkhana), two (2) mela specials from Kolkata station at 07:35 hrs. (to Namkhana) and 21:30 hrs. (to Namkhana) and nine (9) mela specials from Namkhana at 09:10 hrs. (to Sealdah South), 11:18 hrs. (to Sealdah South), 18:35 hrs. (to Sealdah South), 02:52 hrs. (to Sealdah South), 01:25 hrs. (to Sealdah South), 01:06 hrs. (to Sealdah South), 00:07 hrs. (to Sealdah South), 13:35 hrs. (34923/30711 UP Namkhana – Lakshmikantapur via Majerhat local diverted to Sealdah South) & 22:10 hrs. (34933 Namkhana – Lakshmikantapur local will be extended to Sealdah South), one (1) mela special from Kakdwip at 14:16 hrs. (to Sealdah South).

The Galloping Mela Special trains will stop at Ballygunge, Sonarpur, Baruipur, Lakshmikantapur, Nischindapur and Kakdwip stations.
Mela Special trains originating from Kolkata station will stop at all stations between Kolkata & Majerhat. However, no train will stop at Kashinagar Halt station from 10.01.2026 to 16.01.2026, as requested by District Administration, says ER.
