MUMBAI, DECEMBER 21: The wave of relief among racing enthusiasts and Royal Western India Turf Culb (RWITC) members, after all the nine candidates were declared elected to its committee, is shortlived.

In an unexpected development, Ravi Ghai, Chairman of the Stewards of the Club resigned as he believes that Chairman of RWITC Dr Cyrus S Poonawalla must be among the stewards. It is understood that a large number of club members support his view.

Dr Poonawalla, when contacted by The Indian Express, said he was shocked to note that Ravi Ghai had put in his papers. He also said he wanted to persuade Ghai in person, however he could not meet him.

Poonawalla plans to call an emergency meeting of the committee to place Ghai’s resignation.
