On Wednesday night, Provogue held a fashion show at Three Flights Up. Before you yawn at the thought of yet another fashion show, this one was different. It was for women only though on display were men8217;s shirts! Of course, we think there should be a ban on women8217;s fashion shows because today8217;s teenybopper crowd only dresses in black lycra. If they only want to look like veejays, then why expose them to fashion at all? In this show, the crowd only wanted to ogle at the men. Up on stage, displaying their chests were Bunty Grewal, Himanshu Malik, Akaish Segal, Aseem Merchant and Dino Morrea. For the girls though, it was Dino all the way. Every time the compere Maria Goretti got on stage, the crowd would shout quot;Dino, Dino!quot; He seemed to be a little embarassed by all the adulation he was getting, but we think he better get used to it. Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi is releasing soon and the buzz is that the film is a surefire success and Dino looks really hot.

Indian fashion is hot andhappening at the moment. Our designers are really in demand at the moment. Last week about a dozen of the city8217;s beauties from Helen Brodie and Lara Dutta to Anupama Verma, flew down to Dubai for a Rocky-S fashion show. Organised by Sharmilla Khanna and Sabah Khaleli the show was a real hit with all the clothes selling out ASAP. In fact, nearly every major newspaper covered the event. quot;I have become quite a star in Dubai,quot; said a joking Rocky. quot;His clothes are really very good. Both his western and ethnic wear really impressed me. It must be one of his best collections to date,quot; said one of the models who went with him to the Middle East. What we want to know is when is this city going to get a dekko at his latest work?

But don8217;t let the buzz in the fashion industry fool you. The city is dull and the social scene lacklustre. Between the heat and the World Cup, most of Mumbai8217;s revellers opt to stay at home. But there is one place that is doing well despite the fact that it doesnot have a television set. If run rates are not your scene then head for Rahul Akerkar8217;s highly-rated Indigo. This restaurant really seems to appeal to the advertising and media crowd and its bar is packed almost every night. On Tuesday night, Samira Nanda who was in the city for a quick stopover was there with her former collegaue Suchitra Pillai and sitting with them was Atul Kasbekar. In the dining room there was Alisha Chinai with a few of her girlfriends. And on Saturday night, it was even more packed when diners not only got a chance to eat some great food, they also got to see Lisa Ray and Namrata Barua sitting at seperate tables. The right touch of glamour to its elegant interiors.

Have you noticed that Bipasha Basu is missing from the scene? With good good reason though 8212; she has joined Mollywood. Like Aditi Govitrikar she has signed a film down South. So she is busy in Switzerland shooting for her film debut. You may remember that she was meant to make her debut in J PDutta8217;s next film but that did not work out. Instead of waiting for another well-known director to approach her Bipasha has quietly headed down South. While we are certain her dusky looks will take the silver screen by storm, we hope she does not set her heart on films. Most designers feel that Bipasha has what it takes to be India8217;s next supermodel.
