SAMASTIPUR, FEB 9: Janata Dal president Sharad Yadav today ridiculed the attempts being made by Rashtriya Loktantrik Morcha RLM to cobble together a third front and committed its support to secular parties in their bid to form a government in the event of the fall of Atal Behari Vajpayee ministry.

quot; After our experiment with the United Front, which fell apart despite a common agenda and unity of purpose, the attempts to forge another non-Congress, non-BJP front seem little more than wishful thinking, quot; Yadav told reporters here.

Yadav felt that the coalition government at the Centre could be pulled down only through a mass mobilisation campaign.

Charging the Centre with adopting anti-farmer policies, the former Union minister, said his party would launch a nation-wide agitation if the government went ahead with its proposal to impose tax on farmers.

Accusing the BJP government of encouraging quot;fundamentalists and of violence by the Sangh Parivarquot;, he said the party which had come to power on the promise of ridding the people of fear, hunger, and corruption had proved to be a quot;failurequot; on all fronts.

He termed casteism as a major threat to country8217;s unity and integrity, but said fundamentalism posed even greater danger and called for combating it with full commitment and strength.
