The Union Home Ministry issued advisories to states to be extra vigilant regarding security in crowded places following the serial blasts in Jaipur. The Ministry has directed the states to take adequate measures so that anti-social elements do not take advantage of the situation.

Hyderabad: Vigil has been stepped up across the city. Police forces have been deployed in sensitive places including railway stations, bus depots and places of worship.

Chennai: Security has been tightened following the blasts. Police said vehicles entering the city would be thoroughly checked.

Chandigarh: Haryana Police chief R S Dalal said a red alert has been sounded across the state. In Punjab, all district police chiefs have been directed to step up vigil.

Varanasi: A red alert has been sounded in this temple city with increased deployment at sensitive places. 8220;Though there is no specific threat of any terror attack in the city, we are leaving nothing to chance,8221; said DIG S N Sabat.

Bangalore: The Karnataka Police have stepped up security throughout the state as a precautionary measure. Police said vigil is being maintained in busy areas.
