Security for Swami Ramdev has been beefed up following the arrest of a youth from the venue of a yoga camp being conducted here by the spiritual guru, police said.

The youth, identified only as Gaurav, managed to enter the helicopter in which the Guru and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister V B Singh flew from Chandigarh to Hamirpur yesterday. The CM has expressed serious concern over the incident and assured fool-proof security to Ramdev during the week-long yoga camp, which began today at the National Institute of Technology here.

After the opening session of the camp, Singh said the incident was a security lapse as the security personnel presumed Gaurav was a part of the Swami’s five-member group while Ramdev’s men mistook him for a security personnel.

Ramdev also attributed the incident to misunderstanding between his men and security personnel. Ramdev said he was satisfied with the security and had not asked for ‘Z-plus’ security.

In Jalandhar, Gaurav’s family denied he had any terrorist link. The local police too said they did not have a criminal record. ‘‘I do not know how he entered the helicopter, but as far as reports about his links with any terrorist organisation are concerned, these are totally baseless,’’ his uncle Ajay Kapur said.

Shital Vij, editor of Divya Times, said Gaurav was working as part-time correspondent for his paper and during the recent visit of Swami Ramdev, he covered the Swami’s week-long yoga camp for the publication.
