Even as the controversy continues over the drugs manufactured by Baba Ramdev8217;s ashram, doctors under the banner of Indian Medical Association IMABihar chapter today felicitated the yoga guru.

At a function here, Ramdev was termed as a second 8220;Gandhi8221;, 8220;yugpurush8221; and even addressed as 8220;param pujya8221; by the doctors. He was extended a standing ovation and even offered by a doctor8217;s degree by one representative of the IMA.

The lone voice of dissent was reputed urologist and national president of the Indian Medical Association Dr Ajay Kumar who registered his protest.

Kumar said that Ramdev was a doing business in the garb of a 8220;swami8221; and curing incurable diseases with his 8220;magic concoctions8221;. He urged the practitioners of modern medicine to rise to the occasion and prevent Ramdev from maligning the image of doctors.

His voice, however, was drowned by the majority. At the felicitation function at the IMA hall here, Ramdev raised the issue, questioning the 8220;mental health8221; of Dr Ajay Kumar. He even wondered as to how the IMA had such a person in their association. IMA Bihar chapter president Dr G. S. Thakur came up with a clarification and said it was the opinion of a particular person and not the IMA.

Baba Ramdev, meanwhile, was in full control delivering sermons to the medical practitioners. 8220;I have found a cure for cancer and AIDS. But I will not disclose it just now,8221; he declared as the doctors sat mute. He even imparted yoga tips to the doctors.

Baba Ramdev has been in Patna for the past four days holding a yoga training camp.
