Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Election Results 2026 Date, Time: All eyes on Pune as polling is underway for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and PCMC elections. Elections are also being held in 27 other civic bodies across Maharashtra. These are the first civic elections in Maharashtra since 2017.

The voting for the PMC and PCMC elections began amid tight security at 7.30 am and will conclude at 5.30 pm. Voters were seen standing in long queues to cast their votes.

As of 11:30 am, the voter turnout in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) elections was recorded to be 16.3 per cent, while it stood at 12.5 per cent in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) polls.

When will the result be announced?

As per the State Election Commission, the results for Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and PCMC elections, along with 27 other civic bodies will be announced on January 16. The counting of votes will begin at 10 am on Friday.

PMC elections at a glance

The PMC elections saw 1,165 candidates in the fray in 41 wards. As many as 165 seats were up for grabs. Nearly 35.51 voters sealed the fates of these candidates on Thursday.

In PCMC, 128 seats are up for grabs across 32 wards. A total of 17,13,891 electors will decide their fates.

What happened in the 2017 PMC election?

The previous Pune Municipal Corporation election was held on February 21, 2017, and recorded a voter turnout of 55.45 per cent. A total of 1,090 candidates were in the fray.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged with a clear majority, winning 97 seats. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) secured 39 seats, followed by Shiv Sena with 10 and Congress with nine. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) won two seats, AIMIM one, while Independents and others accounted for four seats.

Mukta Tilak of the BJP was elected mayor, while Navanth Kamble was chosen as deputy mayor. In terms of vote share, the BJP polled 36.67 per cent, the NCP 21.94 per cent, and the Congress 8.63 per cent.

Other municipal corporations in Maharashtra where elections are underway today include Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Thane, Ulhasnagar, Kalyan-Dombivli, Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Jalgaon, Ahmednagar (Ahilyanagar), Kolhapur, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Nanded-Waghala, Malegaon, Latur, Parbhani, Navi Mumbai, Vasai-Virar City, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Solapur, Amravati, Akola, Mira Bhayandar, Panvel, Chandrapur, Sangli-Mirajpur-Kupwad, Dhule, Ichalkaranji and Jalna.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is India’s richest civic body. As many as 1,729 candidates are contesting its 227 seats.
