Explosives found in TN, Kerala

CHENNAI: Three powerful bombs were recovered from different parts of Tamil Nadu while 20 kg of explosives were found on the Kochi-Kurla Netravati Express near Kasargod in Kerala. The bombs, each weighing 5 kg were set to explode between 6 am and 8 am and were placed near police stations in Trichy and Coimbatore. Another consignment was seized from the railway track at Payangadi in Kannur district Saturday. Airports and public places in Tamil Nadu have been put on high alert.

Scientist expelled

WASHINGTON: An Indian scientist was expelled from a top USnuclear weapons laboratory last year because it was quot;discoveredquot; that he had ties with India8217;s nuke programme, Newsweekmagazine reported on Sunday. The scientist, it said, was among 17 foreign nationals who worked in the highly-classified weapons division at the Los Alamos laboratory.
