CTBT: US dangles aid, Pak dithers
ISLAMABAD: In a sudden turn-around, the Nawaz Sharif government today dropped its plan to bring a draft resolution in Parliament for signing of the CTBT but said a final decision will be taken keeping national interests in mind even as the United States offered Pakistan a handsome financial bail-out package of around five billion US dollars if it signed the CTBT, according to media reports.

VIRUDHUNAGAR: Two persons were killed and several people injured in clashes between members of two communities in Virudhunagar and Sattur areas today. Police said while one of the victims was hacked to death, the other was killed in a bomb attack in Sattur town.

MUMBAI: Heavy showers lashed various parts of the State over the last 24 hours and claimed two lives in Nagpur, while floods in other areas threw life out of gear. In Jalgaon district, 25 houses in two villages were washed away by the flooded Tapi river.Government officials rescued over 200 people here. Two persons travelling in a jeep were swept away while crossing a flooded nullah near Gondpara village yesterday.

SRINAGAR: Militants wiped out five male members of a family and wounded two others after dragging them out of their house at Dagapora-Ganderbal on the outskirts of Srinagar last night.
