Nawaz Sharif to challenge dismissal
ISLAMABAD:
Detained Pakistani premier Nawaz Sharif has decided to move the country8217;s apex court challenging the army takeover and the dismissal of his government, his Pakistan Muslim League PML party sources said. Sharif has directed his lawyers to file a petition before the Supreme Court in a day or two in this regard during a 90-minute meeting with Pakistan8217;s top constitutional lawyer and his former law minister Khalid Anwar in Karachi where he is kept in police custody, two days ago, said the sources.

G P Goenka of Calcutta-based Duncans Group took over as the new president of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Sunday, while Chirayu R Amin of Alembic Ltd was elected vice president. Goenka succeeded Sudhir Jalan. A C Muthiah of Chennai-based SPIC Group has been elevated to the post of senior vice president.

Rs 300 cr more to Orissa
BHUBANESWAR:
Orissa Chief Minister Giridhar Gamangon Sunday said the Centre has agreed to provide another Rs 300 crore to the State to continue relief and rehabilitation work in cyclone and flood devastated areas.The funds were made available after he met the Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha and Defence Minister George Fernandes, who is heading the special task force for coordinating relief and rehabilitation work in the State on Saturday, Gamang told.
