
Kalyan gas leak claims 3
MUMBAI: Three persons were killed and 17 others taken seriously ill after inhaling hydrogen sulphide which leaked from a chemical unit in Netivili, Kalyan early on Saturday. The dead include Satishkumar Sunderlal Gupta , owner of the chemical unit, a worker Vijay Singh and the tanker cleaner Brijesh Singh.

BALRAMPUR UP: A Pakistani national, who had entered the country illegally and was seeking Indian citizenship, was arrested here on Saturday, police said. The Pakistani national, identified as Nazir Ali, had been illegally residing in Balrampur district since April this year, police said. Ali had entered the country through the Amritsar-Atari route and was seeking Indian citizenship, police said.
Burning train
JALGAON: A major mishap was averted when railway officers and people on the platform rescued passengers in the Guwahati-Dadar Express whose fifth bogie caught fire here last night. According to sources, people near Shivajinagarnoticed the burning train and brought it to the notice of the motorman. When the train halted at Jalgaon railway station, citizens rescued the passengers.
Telecom package
NEW DELHI: The communication Ministry will seek Cabinet8217;s approval next week for a package to regularise the ad-hoc mechanism of revenue sharing for telecom operators who have shifted from the fixed license fee regime. Before the elections, the Government had fixed 15 per cent of gross revenue to be shared by private operators as an interim measure.
Jawan missing
CHENNAI: An Army jawan stationed here has been missing since July, according to a Defence press release issued here. N P Lonan, a Naik attached to the embarkation headquarters, had left on July 4 by the Grand Trunk Express on his way to Meerut where his previous unit was located. However, he did not reach there. Lonan8217;s relatives had informed the Army about his non-arrival there, the press release said on Saturday.
