
Shoot-at-sight orders in AP
HYDERABAD: Shoot-at-sight orders were issued by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday to prevent sabotage attempts on power installations and power lines in view of the indefinite strike by a section of state electricity board employees from Monday protesting against the proposed power reforms. The Army has been asked to stand by to protect vital power installations and power lines.
Hostages freedAGARTALA:
National Liberation Front of Tripura militants released two non-tribal hostages including a student on Saturday. Twelve-year old Keshab Majumder and Biswamath Saha who were abducted on March 4 and March 29 respectively, returned home unhurt, police said.

Explosivesseized
KOZHIKODE: Police seized 250 kg of explosives, five detonators and 105 metres of safety fuse and arrested two persons in this connection at Naduvannur near here on Saturday.
Temple burglary
VIJAYAWADA: Gold ornaments adorning Goddess Kanakadurga atop the Indrakeeladri Hill here were stolen by breaking open the sanctum sanctorum of the temple early on Sunday. Police said eleven ornaments, including a gold crown and two mangalsutras valued at Rs 4 lakh were stolen. The temple has since been closed to visitors.
Rains kill 10
HYDERABAD: Ten persons were killed and crops suffered heavy damage as unseasonal rains lashed parts of Andhra Pradesh during the last two days. Five persons died when lightning struck them in Cuddapah, Kurnool and Nalgonda districts while others died in wall collapses and rains.

Arms seizure
SRINAGAR: Ten anti-aircraft guns were recovered while three persons including an Army jawan were killed even as three militants 8212; among them two PoK nationals 8212; surrendered during the past 24 hours. The guns are capable of shooting down aircraft.
