The Maharashtra State Warehousing Corporation has bagged the first prize for best performance in the field of warehousing for the year 1996-97, instituted by the National Productivity Council. The trophy was received by Ratnakar Kulkarni, chairman and managing director of the corporation at a function held at Delhi.

Air Wing NCC Cadet Warrant Officer Sweety Dogra has been selected for Army Commission. Daughter of Dunichand Dogra, an ex-serviceman, Sweety is presently doing M.Sc. at the University of Pune.

Kannada Sangha, Pune, will organise a day-long Maharashtra Rajya Kavi Sammelan and Datti Upanyas and release two books written by Indira Salian on January 9 at Kannada Sangha premises, Dr. Ketkar Road, Erandwane. Veteran Marathi poet Vasant Bapat will inaugurate the literary meet.
Toy contest
Gram Vidnyan Manch will organise a competition of preparing scientific toys.The contest is open to school children. The contestants will have to prepare a toy based on a scientific principle. Prizes will be given to the best toys which will be exhibited at the Institution of Engineers, Pune, and Ghare Shastri hall, Chinchwad, from January 13 to 18. Last date for enrollment is january 10. Camp
The Rotary Club of Nigdi-Pune organised a Rotary youth leadership award camp at Gram Prabodhani in Salumbre Village from December 25 to 27. The camp was attended by 37 students of various schools from Pimpri-Chinchwad area.
Bal mela
The Maharashtra Prathmik Shikshan Parishad had organised a three-day State-level workshop on How to conduct Bal Mela,8217; from Tuesday at the Pt. Deendayal School. More than 18 resource persons from Indian Institute of Education IIE, Balbhavan, Muktangan, Antarbharti conducted the workshop.
