Rly meet over amenities postponed
Railway passenger amenities meeting which was slated to be held on April 21 has been postponed. A statement issued by the Central Railways said that the meeting will be held at the divisional railway manager’s office in Pune on April 29.

MUWJ demonstration
Maharashtra Union of Working Journalists (MUWJ) has given a call for working journalists in the state to hold demonstrations on the occasion of the workers day on May 1 to demand immediate sanctioning of the second interim relief payments to the working journalists and other newspaper employees in the country.

The general body meeting of the MUWJ, held in Pune on March 19, has also decided to participate in the nationwide protest to be held in New Delhi during the next session of Parliament to press for the demand.

Summer camp for children
The Chinmaya Mission has organised a three-day camp Mauj Mein Rahon for children aged between 4-13 years at Baner from April 25. Children will be divided into two groups for undertaking fun-filled activity through playing, art and craft, music, dance and drama. ACE certificate for Phadke
Manjoo Phadke, a fitness instructor has received the US-based American Council on Exercise (ACE) certificate as group fitness instructor. Manjoo has been working with Talwalkar’s fitness fellowship centre for six years. While the ACE certificate is valid for two years, she intends to acquire continuing educational credits from ACE and plans to start a health centre.

Personality course
A course in language and personality development is being conducted at Young Women’s Christian Association from Monday. Children in the age group of 7-10 years are eligible to join the course. Interested persons may yet contact on telephone number 665518.

ICM protest
Indian Christians’ Movement will hold demonstrations in the city on April 23 to protest against the article published in February 1998 issue of `Women’s Era’ pertaining to the faith of Christianity. The morcha will commence from Aurora Towers, M G Road in Pune Camp at 10.30 a.m. on April 23 and will proceed towards the district collectorate. A memorandum will be submitted to the collector.

Health camp
The Punjabi Cultural Association held a free medical camp at Atur Sangtani Park on April 19. Nearly 100 patients were examined.

Nature camp
Nisarg Sevak, an environmental organisation, recently conducted a nature education camp for school children. The activities included a trek through the Smrutivan project, a lectures by Sunita Thumane, president of Eureka Science Centre, Santosh Marathe of Vivek Nature Club, Bharati Tembe and Dr. Vinaya Ghate and a magic programme by Vijay Bansode.
