
PUTF urges Governor to intervene
The Pune University Teachers Forum PUTF has urged the Chancellor and Maharashtra Governor Dr P C Alexander to ensure that the culprits in the fake marksheet scandal are not protected. The PUTF also exhorted the Governor to look into the case personally towards maintaining the institution8217;s credibility.
A statement issued by Dr A S Dalvi, president of the forum, stated that the delegation demanded that the culprits in the fake marksheet case should not be shielded. The PUTF members who met the Chancellor and apprised him of the recent events at the University of Pune also charged that the State government was neglecting the state of higher education.
The system was in a mess due to the apathy shown by the State government, the members charged adding that the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission should be implemented. Meanwhile members of the Satyashodak Vidyarthi Sanghatana staged demonstrations at the UoP demanding that Vice-Chancellor Dr Arun Nigavekar own moral responsibility for the incident and tender his resignation.
Writers appeal to citizens to cast vote

A host of noted writers from the city and Rajhans Publications have made an appeal to the citizens to exercise their voting right which has been gained by the sacrifices of our ancestors and leaders. Nearly 25,000 such pamphlets are being distributed in the city.
