With the exit polls in Karnataka giving the BJP a lead in the assembly polls, the daggers are out against AICC general secretary in charge of the state Prithviraj Chavan8212;who had survived unscathed the loss in the Tripura assembly elections. Part of the reason for a close scrutiny of Chavan8217;s performance by his party colleagues is his meteoric rise in the party and the Government. Chavan apparently enjoys the trust of Sonia Gandhi who put him in charge of states like Jammu 038; Kashmir, Karnataka, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh. Minister of State in Prime Minister8217;s Office, Chavan was recently given the additional portfolio of the Ministry of Personnel vacated by Suresh Pachauri. Incidentally, the reason cited for Pachauri8217;s exit from the Union Council of Ministers was that he would not be able to do justice to his new assignment as Madhya Pradesh PCC chief. With his hand more than full, will Chavan be able to hit back at his detractors?
