During the altercation, the two minor cousins of the girls allegedly sustained minor injuries.
Three minor boys were apprehended Saturday for allegedly stalking two minor girls and assaulting them in Farsh Bazar area of East Delhi’s Shahdara, police said.
They said they were informed about the incident around 6 pm. A preliminary inquiry revealed that one of the accused allegedly passed comments on the two girls, aged 16 and 14. When the girls objected, the boy allegedly assaulted them.
Hearing the commotion, the victims’ cousins — also minors — allegedly intervened and a scuffle ensued. The police said the boy then called his minor friends to the spot, escalating the situation. During the altercation, the two cousins of the victims allegedly sustained minor injuries, police said.
A scooter parked nearby was also damaged in the melee, the police said.
“All three juveniles involved in the incident have been apprehended,” said Prashant Gautam, DCP, Shahdara.
The police said they are filing a case under sections pertaining to assault, stalking, molestation and damage to property, and will take further legal action in accordance with the Juvenile Justice Act.
