35 new office-bearers announced: In Gujarat BJP rejig, a veteran returns, another replaced  

The Gujarat unit of the BJP saw a major overhaul with new appointments – as many as 35 office-bearers – announced on Saturday evening for president Jagdish Vishwakarma’s team that has eight women.

The list put out by the state BJP saw the return of some old-timers such as former spokesperson and MLA Bharat Pandya who comes back as vice-president and exit of veterans such as state party treasurer Surendra Patel popularly known as Surendra ‘kaka’, who has been replaced by Parindu Bhagat, popularly known as ‘Kakubhai’. Bhagat, a lawyer, was the party’s coordinator with the Election Commission.

Former Assembly speaker Ganpat Vasava has been made the Scheduled Tribe Morcha chief. Shrinath Shah has been retained as the office secretary. Dr Anil Patel is the new spokesperson while Prashant Vala ,who was earlier the party’s state media convenor, has returned to the state unit as the new media-in-charge.
