
NAGPUR, MAY 24: The information and publicity department of State Government would be soon modernised to keep pace with the fast growing world of information technology. IT
In this direction, the department would be soon equipped with internet, fax, modem and photocopying facilities, so that they could fulfill the demands of the present hi-tech media, Anil Deshmukh, minister of state for school education, information and publicity, said here recently.
The minister was speaking during his visit ot the office of director of information and publicity. Deshmukh said that the department was one of the most important in the state, as it reached the various welfare schemes of the government to the common people, in co-ordination with the media.
As the media, particularly electronic media is going more and more hi-tech by the day, it is necessary that the department kept pace with this modernisation. He informed that steps have already been initiated in this direction.
Earlier, Sharad Choudhary, divisional director, welcomed the minister. Prabhakar Dawande, district information officer, conducted the proceedings. The minister later went about the office looking in at the news section, computer room, exhibition room and photographs room.
B M Kausal, deputy divisional director of information and Shatrughan Lonare, assistant director and other employees of the department were present.
