
NEW DELHI, July 8: A delegation of the much talked about Malaysian national car project, Proton, is coming to India this month for conducting a feasibility study on the location and other aspects of the project.
The delegation will be arriving in New Delhi on July 13 for a 10 day visit. This time, according to industry sources, the focus of the delegation will not just be Andhra Pradesh, but it will study other parts of the country with a very focussed approach towards Punjab.
Starting from Delhi, the delegation will head towards Punjab, then Mumbai, Hyderabad and finally Chennai where the visit will come to an end on July 22.According sources, the delegation apart from conducting a feasibility study, will also have discussions with the Central and the respective state governments.The government had welcomed the project from the very beginning, but the Malaysian company, which initially targeted Andhra Pradesh, has yet to make up their mind.
Proton is targeting India initially for its small car and will subsequently introduce other models.
