
CHANDIGARH, Aug 14: Punjab Governor B K N Chhibber today called upon the people to propagate the eternal theory of 8220;karma8221; as taught by Lord Krishna in the Gita, even as various processions were held today on the eve of Janamashtami.
Temples across the City were decked up and various processions taken out. A shobha yatra organised by the Hindu Parv Mahasabha, which started at 1 p. m. from Durga Mandir in Sector 41, passed through Sectors 40, 38, 37, 36, 35, 34, 33, 32, 46 and culminated at Ram Mandir, in Sector 47, Sabha8217;s general secretary B P Arora said in a statement. Yog Vedant Samiti, Chandigarh, also took out a prabhat pheri from the Sector 35-B Rajeshwar Ram Temple at 5.30 a.m.
Prabhat pheries were also taken out in S. A. S. Nagar. The general secretary of Shri Radhakrishan Mandir and Dharamshala Sabha said 8220;jhankis8221; were taken out from all the temples in the town. Several programmes have been planned for tomorrow on the occasion.
Felicitating the people on the eve of Janamashtami, the Governor said the message of Lord Krishna would continue to inspire the coming generations to raise their voice against injustice and to fight tyranny.
Describing Lord Krishna as the greatest 8220;karamyogi8221;, the Governor said his teachings in Geeta were as relevant today as during the ancient and medieval period of our history.
Chhibber urged the people to celebrate the festival collectively, transcending all barriers of caste, culture and creed, to reaffirm faith in secular teachings of Lord Krishna.
