
PUNE, Feb 17: Priyadarshini Sports Club handed Seven Star a humiliating 10-0 defeat for making it to the quarter-final stage, while PCMC scraped past Champions Sports Club 5-4 via the tie-breaker in the Dr SWV Fredricks Junior Hockey tournament in progress at the PCMS poligras stadium here.
Vinod Pillai, playing in the left flank, led the tally for Priyadarshini slamming in four goals. However it was Arnold Martin who opened the account in the second minute of play and went on to score two more goals in the second session. Rahul Garge, Vineet Nimal and Vinod Kellappan chipped with a goal each.
Goodwill SC reserved a semi-final berth in the tournament with today8217;s 3-0 win over Chikalwadi Y B. Also making the semi-final grade were the PCMC team edging past Champions SC 5-4 via the tie-breaker. Regular time play proved to be a keen affair. While Champions surged ahead through Sandeep Ishankar, PCMC8217;s Santosh Pawar restored parity. The scoring pattern remained the same after the breather. After Vishal Puttal made it 2-1 in favour of Champions, Santosh Pawar once again found the equaliser for his side. In the tie-breaker that ensued, S Takle, Harbhajans Singh and Ganesh Landge found the target for PCMC while the losers managed to convert two goals off the sticks of Wahid Pathan and Santosh Bhosle.
