Indias top-ranked player Somdev Devvarman picture right achieved his career-best ranking by breaking into the top 150 of the latest ATP list issued on Monday. He gained four places to occupy 150th position with 546 points in his kitty.
In the womens rankings,Sania Mirza continued her climb up the ladder as the Indian moved up 12th places to 75th in the singles list issued by the WTA.
Sania,who had lost in the second round at the Dubai Tennis Championship last week,has 806 points. In the doubles,she remained at 63rd.
In the ATP doubles rankings,Mahesh Bhupathi,who did not play in the last two weeks,lost one place to be sixth while Leander Paes had his ranking intact at number seven. Rohan Bopanna gained three places to be 75th.
Indians lose
There will be no Indian competing in the singles event of the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships as both Somdev Devvarman and Rohan Bopanna failed to make the main draw,losing their qualifying matches.
Bopanna lost to American John Isner 6-2 6-1 while Somdev went down fighting 7-5 6-4 to Americas Ryan Sweeting. Bopanna and Jarkko Nieminen of Finland will team up for the doubles event.
They will take on Paul Capdeville of Chile and Evgeny Korolev of Russia in the first round.
