Manoj Tiwary sustains knee injury,out of action for four months

The injury has rendered Tiwary doubtful for India's tour of Zimbabwe beginning on July 24.

Manoj Tiwary’s tryst with injuries continued as the right-handed batsman has been ruled out of action for four months after twisting his left knee during a football drill for the Kalighat cricket club here.

The injury has rendered Tiwary doubtful for India’s tour of Zimbabwe,which is slated to begin on July 24.

The BCCI has asked Tiwary to fly to England on June 29 to meet Dr Andrew Williams,an orthopaedic surgeon and knee specialist,for consultation and immediate surgery,reported ‘Cricinfo’.

This is the second time this year that Tiwary has been ruled out because of injury after the talented Bengal batsman had suffered a serious shoulder injury during his state team’s semi-final match in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Delhi in Visakhapatnam.

During this year’s IPL,he was out for a week with a a bruised right hand that he against Kings XI Punjab on April 26.
