A squall, followed by an hour of sharp showers that thundered down just before the toss saw the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Deccan Chargers on Tuesday being abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The Deccan Chargers, however, perhaps werent complaining, considering the ankle-deep water and the first washout of this season gave the southern side their first points 1 point of IPL-V,in their sixth game.

The on-field umpires,Billy Bowden and Vineet Kulkarni, made an inspection of the wet Eden Gardens ground at 10.15pm,two and a half hours after the toss was to be held, and called off the tie. As the ground took a lot of rain, the outfield was very soggy. It could be dangerous for the players, Kulkarni said.
