The much-anticipated IPL-style football league to be held early next year will be christened as the Indian Super League even as the organisers IMG-Reliance disclosed the roping in of four more big international stars. Bulgaria hails Dimitrov win
Bulgaria,a nation with a proud female tennis tradition,hailed Grigor Dimitrovs maiden ATP tour title and praised the player for becoming an inspiration for young talent in the country. The three Maleeva sisters Manuela,Katerina and Magdalena,who took turns to feature in the worlds top six in the 1980s and 1990s made the womens game successful in Bulgaria. Dimitrov became the first Bulgarian male player to win a tour title after fighting back to upset Spanish top seed David Ferrer 2-6 6-3 6-4 in the final of the Stockholm Open on Sunday. Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski was among those to congratulate the 22-year-old Dimitrov. The Prime Minister expressed the hope that Dimitrov will become an inspiration for many young talents in Bulgaria, the governments press office said. Simpson wins fourth title
Former U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson hit the jackpot in Las Vegas on Sunday,cruising to his fourth career victory on the PGA Tour by a commanding six shots at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.Four ahead of the chasing pack at the start of play,Simpson did not allow his challengers to get any closer than three strokes before tightening his grip on the title with three birdies in the last six holes at the TPC Summerlin.
Mirza in doubles top 10
Sania Mirza has broken back into the top 10 of the world womens doubles by gaining two spots to ninth place in the latest WTA Team Rankings. Sania jumped from 11th spot despite not playing any event this week. The 26-year-old moved up as a result of other players dropping points. Sania had won back-to-back titles as she lifted the China Open trophy earlier this month,followed by another triumph in Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo. Her partner Cara Black of Zimbabwe too gained a position to be at number 13. Italians Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci hold on to the joint number one ranking,while Su-Wei Hseih climbed two spots to number four and Katrina Srebotnik moved one spot higher to number three.
59 foreign players signed
Fifty nine overseas players,including 27 Olympians have signed up for the Mini Players Auction/Closed Bid,which is scheduled on November 18 for the next two editions of the Hero Hockey India League HIL. Hockey India HI Secretary General and HIL chairman,Narinder Batra said players from 12 countries have made themselves available for the auction. We are happy that players from 12 countries besides Indians have made themselves available for Mini Players Auction/Closed Bid for Hero Hockey India League, he said.

Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari says Diego Costa shouldnt be allowed to play for Spain and refuses to give up his right to select the striker for Brazils national team. Scolari said hes the only one who can have a say about whether the athlete will be picked for Brazil ahead of next years World Cup. The coach added its his right to choose.
