The New Year is a great time to refresh your travel bucket list. There are always plenty of local spots to visit, but international trips take a bit more planning, especially when it comes to budget, visas, and timing. Here’s a quick guide to five countries you can visit without a visa, making your next adventure even easier.
The Maldives remains one of the most appealing vacation spots for Indians wanting a warm beach getaway. Indian passport holders can enter the Maldives without a visa.
Why January: January is widely considered the best month to visit: temperatures hover around 27-29 °C, sea water is warm (~ 28 °C), and rainfall is relatively low — only about 75 mm for the month, spread over a handful of days. Clear skies, calm seas, and excellent underwater visibility make it ideal for snorkelling, diving, island hopping, or simply lounging on the beaches.
Just like the Maldives, Mauritius offers visa-free access for Indian travellers.
Why January: Although January is one of the wetter months of the year, many coastal areas still enjoy sunshine, and rain often comes in short bursts, clearing up quickly. If you don’t mind occasional showers and plan your stays wisely (north/west coasts tend to be drier), Mauritius can be an excellent destination for a relaxing, scenic island holiday filled with beaches, lagoons, and cultural experiences.

Fiji is among the countries that Indian passport holders can visit without needing to apply for a visa in advance.
Why January: January marks mid-summer in Fiji — it’s warm and tropical, ideal for beach holidays and water activities, though exact weather numbers vary by island. For Indians seeking a more offbeat tropical getaway (away from the crowds), Fiji offers island landscapes, coral reefs, and a slower pace of life — perfect for rejuvenation and tropical exploration.
As per the revised rules, Indians can enter Malaysia visa-free. However, the visa exemption remains valid until December 31, 2026.
Why January: January in Malaysia typically offers warm, tropical weather (though rainfall patterns vary depending on the region), making it a versatile destination — from beaches (such as Langkawi and Penang) to cities (Kuala Lumpur) and lush rainforests. For those seeking a mix of culture, shopping, nature and beaches — all with minimal visa hassle — Malaysia is a convenient and attractive choice in January.

Since June 2025, Indian nationals have been allowed to visit the Philippines visa-free for short stays. According to the official notification, “Indian nationals may enter the Philippines without a visa for a non-extendible and non-convertible period of 14 days for tourism purposes, upon presenting a passport valid for at least six (6) months beyond the contemplated stay, confirmed hotel accommodation / booking, proof of financial capacity, and return or onward ticket to the next country of destination.”
Why January: January falls comfortably within the mild season for many parts of the Philippines, offering a pleasant tropical climate — ideal for beach activities, island hopping, and city stays alike.
This makes the Philippines a good pick for travellers seeking diverse experiences — from urban life to relaxed beaches — and who want to keep travel simple with easy entry and flexible itineraries.
