Selection on Saturday

Kanpur: The selection committee will meet here on Saturday to pick the Indian team for the third and final Test against Sri Lanka scheduled in Mumbai from December 2. Yashpal Sharma is already here and the other selectors are expected to arrive from Friday,according to team manager Rajan Nair.

Broad eyes IPL

London: Having turned down an IPL contract in season-II for the sake of the Ashes,England paceman Stuart Broad is now eyeing his maiden stint in the T20 tournament. Broads representative is in touch with IPL chairman Lalit Modi and may be included in the list of players up for auction in January.

Misbah for second Test

Karachi: The PCB has accepted captain Mohammad Yousufs request to send Misbah-ul-Haq to New Zealand before the second Test to strengthen the squad. Sources said board chairman Ejaz Butt and chief selector Iqbal Qasim have given the nod for Misbah to fly to New Zealand.

Modi cleared to contest

Jaipur: Clearing the way for Lalit Modi to contest the Rajasthan Cricket Association RCA elections,Justice N M Kasliwal ruled that elections would be held under the Sports Act. The ruling removed the compulsion that the person wanting to contest the elections should be a domicile.

Butt under fire

Karachi: PCB chairman Ejaz Butt has come under severe criticism for overlooking alleged financial discrepancies. A sub committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Sports has criticised the board for working in an arbitrary fashion and criticised Butt for taking unilateral decisions without following rules.
