Dhurandhar worldwide box office collection day 40: Ranveer Singh’s film earns Rs 1263 cr, records fifth highest ticket sales in India ever
Dhurandhar worldwide box office collection day 40 report: Aditya Dhar's period spy thriller, starring Ranveer Singh, may have become the fourth highest grossing Indian film ever, but the third spot is still around Rs 480 crore away.
Comparing Dhurandhar with Ikkis doesn’t make sense, as they operate in entirely different ecosystems, says writer Arijit Biswas.
Dhurandhar worldwide box office collection day 40: Aditya Dhar’s period spy thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, has probably broken all the records it was meant to at both the domestic box office and the worldwide box office. It’s already the highest grossing Indian film domestically and the fourth highest grossing Indian film globally.
Dhurandhar domestic box office collection day 40
On Tuesday (day 40), Dhurandhar added another Rs 2.50 crore to its domestic box office collection, as per Sacnilk. Thus, if one adds that to the Rs 860.10 crore figure shared on social media by its producer Jio Studios on Tuesday morning, its total earnings in India after 40 days stands at Rs 860.60 crore. Thus, it’s slowly and surely inching towards the Rs 900 crore club, unprecedented for any Indian film domestically.
Also, even on its 40th day, Dhurandhar earned more than subsequent Hindi releases — Ikkis (Rs 40 lakh, day 13) and the Hindi dubbed version of Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab (Rs 1.50 crore, day 5). Kartik Aaryan-starrer Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, which released just three weeks after Dhurandhar, has been completely wiped out of cinemas now, just after earning Rs 33 crore at the domestic box office.
Dhurandhar will face some minor competition from two new releases this Friday — Vir Das and Kavi Shastri’s action comedy Happy Patel: Khataranak Jasoos, starring Vir and produced by Aamir Khan; and Fukrey duo Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma-starrer buddy comedy Rahu Ketu. Its next major competitor would arrive next week on January 23 — Anurag Singh’s period war drama Border 2, starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh, ahead of Republic Day.
Dhurandhar worldwide box office collection day 40
As per Sacnilk, the worldwide box office collection of Dhurandhar after 40 days stands at Rs 1262.50 crore. It’s already surpassed Prashanth Neel’s 2022 Kannada action thriller KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 1215 crore), starring Yash; and SS Rajamouli’s 2022 Telugu period action epic RRR (Rs 1230 crore), starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, to become the fourth highest grossing Indian film ever at the global box office.
It next target, however, is still around Rs 480 crore away. The third highest grosser spot is secured by Sukumar’s 2024 Telugu action thriller Pushpa 2: The Rule (Rs 1742.10 crore), starring Allu Arjun. The second highest grosser is a few more crores than that — Rajamouli’s 2017 action fantasy epic Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 1788.06 crore).

The top spot is still held by Nitesh Tiwari’s 2016 Bollywood family sports drama Dangal. The Aamir Khan-starrer amassed Rs 2070.30 crore at the global box office, but its majority chunk of Rs 1200 crore stemmed from the China box office collection. If that’s excluded, Dhurandhar is already at least the highest grossing Hindi film of all time globally. In that case, it’s also the highest grossing non-sequel Indian film ever worldwide.
