NEW DELHI, JANUARY 18: Anju Illyasi committed suicide. Ending the week-long speculation over the death of the wife of television producer and anchor of India8217;s Most Wanted fame Suhaib Illyasi, Delhi police today said the post-mortem report clearly states that the injuries were 8220;self-inflicted and suicidal in nature and therefore no case of murder was being registered8221;.
The viscera report, which was submitted today, also ruled out the possibility that she had consumed something poisonous before her death.
However, the local SDM Ravi Dadaich, who is conducting an inquest into her death, has yet to submit his report. And so whether a case of abetment to suicide will be made out against anyone, is yet to be decided.
Addressing an impromptu press conference late this evening, R K Niyogi, Joint Commissioner of Police New Delhi Range said the post-mortem report which had been compiled by the panel of three doctors after examining the viscera report, had been submitted today and it ruled out murder.
He added the viscera report, which had been submitted by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory CFSL was also negative. 8220;No substance has been found in the viscera. It was negative,8221;said Niyogi.
The much-awaited viscera report, which was submitted today states that they had conducted tests to find out whether she had consumed poison. However, tests for both Organo Phospherous compounds and cyanide were found negative. The report states that the stab wounds were downward and backward and not straight and forward as is the case in murder. Moreover, the report states that the size of the wounds and the weapon was exactly the same, thereby confirming that the weapon found at the spot was the one used.
It may be recalled that Illyasi in his statement to the police had claimed that his wife had stabbed herself following a heated argument at their residence in IFS Apartments on the night of January 11.
He had claimed that they were arguing over his friendship8217; with Karol Bagh businessman Narender Chaddha, when she went to the kitchen picked up a knife and stabbed herself.
Though an interim autopsy report was submitted to the SDM last week, the police could not make any headway in the case as it was not conclusive. Consequently, the panel of doctors asked for some clarifications and documents, including photographs of the scene of the crime as well as the viscera report. They also visited her house to establish the chronology of events before submitting the report.
