PMC charts out an efficient path

PUNE, Dec 15: The standing committee of Pune Municipal Corporation today approved an important proposal of 8220;Citizens8217; Charter,8221; which is aimed at making the civic administration more efficient, clean and people-oriented.Under the charter, the administration will let the people know about the accurate functioning of various departments like building permission, sewerage, water supply, encroachment, gardens, slum development, education, roads, health and electricity.

The common people, who come to the municipal corporation will be given guidance about the competent authority expected to solve their problem, fees to be charged to solve the problem and the time administration would take to complete the work. The citizens will also be told when the competent authorities would be available in the office.Committee chairman Ramesh Bodke told The Indian Express that the proposal would be sent to the general body in this month for the final approval.
