The prolific writer-director team have another tempting offering for the city’s theatre goers. Prashant Dalvi and Chandrakant Kulkarni, the doyens of Marathi theatre, have produced yet another play, Chahul, that promises to hold the attention of viewers. Just like their earlier blockbusters, Char Choughi and Dhyanimani.
The trademark of the team is their choice of socio-psychological subjects. "Comedy is not bad but through our plays, we wish to share an experience with the audience," says Kulkarni. This time the topic is consumerism and its impact on family relationships and values.
Kulkarni and Dalvi have been working together since they were in college, in the comparatively small town of Aurangabad. "Our subjects have matured as we, as a team, have matured," says the director.
The play is just seven to eight shows old and will start touring Maharashtra soon. Chahul has just two characters in it — played by Tushar Dalvi and Sonali Kulkarni.
