PUNE, JUNE 21: The dispute over sharing of routes between Pune and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Transport organisations today aggravated further with corporators of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation PCMC condemning the Pune Municipal Corporation at the civic general body meeting for its 8220;adamant and unhelpful attitude.8221;
The meeting presided by Mayor Madhukar Pawle was adjourned for five minutes after condemning PMC and PMT. During an hour long discussion over the issue, corporators reacted sharply to the directive of the RTO that PCMT should stop plying buses up to Hadapsar, Kothrud and Katraj as the tenure of the temporary permits issued for the routes had lapsed. Most corporators were of the view that if PMT did not allow PCMT buses to ply in Pune limits, PMT buses too would not be allowed to enter PCMC limits. Mayor Pawle himself appealed citizens that if an amicable solution was not arrived at before June 30, they should come on the roads to oppose PMT buses.
Raising the issue, opposition leader Amrut Parhad opined that chairman of the Regional Transport Authority RTA should not take a biased stand regarding sharing of routes. He said that the RTA should enquire if PMT had been issued permits to ply their buses on all the routes in Pimpri-Chinchwad limits.
Pawle informed the meeting Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar would intervene in the matter if necessary. Pawar has suggested that the issue should be resolved amicably, he said.
