If there is one Union minister who gets away with his frequent flyer miles is Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel. Now, every time ministers travel abroad, they need clearance from the Prime Minister. In Patel8217;s case, the PM usually frets and fumes since it8217;s a trip every month, but eventually grants clearance as Patel8217;s party, the NCP, is a vital ally in the ruling UPA coalition. This time Patel wanted to fly off to London to receive a honorary degree from Leeds University and as usual, the PM was irked but eventually gave his nod8212;the NCP8217;s support is needed for the Congress candidate in the upcoming Presidential polls.
