Pakistan is considering moving seminaries out of Islamabad in the wake of the Islamist girl students of the local Jamia Hafsa madarsa challenging the government8217;s authority.
State Minister for Information Tariq Azeem said the government will provide land and financial support for the relocating the madarsas.
The girls have been occupying a public library for the past two months to protest against the demolition of unauthorised mosques in Islamabad.
Last week, these girls even held two policemen and three women hostage in a Taliban-like operation and secured the release of two detained teachers of the seminary in exchange for the security personnel.
They have also been enforcing closures of music and video shops in the capital.
An Islamist body, the Council of Islamic Ideology CII, urged the authorities to take strong action against religious organisations challenging its writ.
