PATIALA, JUNE 17: The Punjab Nurses Association has decided to withdraw its ongoing agitation for a month, to allow time for the state government to arrive at a decision regarding the demands raised by them.
Association president Jiwanpreet Kaur said that the decision had been taken in view of the assurances given by the state government to the Association during a meeting with its representatives.
She said the government has stayed, with immediate effect, recoveries from nurses in the state and also assured the implementation of the 5,800-9,200 pay-scale. The government has also assured not to treat the strike period as period of absence from duty for the striking employees. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Kanwaljit Singh among others. The Finance Minister assured the Association that the state government will respect all its commitments. The deputation of nurses condemned the behaviour of the Health Department and demanded immediate replacement of the Health Minister.
