Joshi spoke at a press conference saying that the scientists in question were advised to get in touch with the cell set up three days back.

Stating that so far only one scientist was sent back by the United States, he said that reports indicated that 10 or 12 more might be asked to go back 8220;but India was in a position give full support and protection to its scientists8221;.

The Union Minister for Science and Technology said that now India was capable of exporting technologies relating to atomic energy, computers and related fields. By creating the cell, thegovernment has pre-empted the move of those countries which had imposed sanctions, he said.

Joshi also denied that the sanctions would affect the scientific institutions in the country saying that 8220;we can buy necessary equipment from other countries if those countries which imposed sanctions refused to sell those equipment8221;.

Joshi said the Centre has given thrust to the use of science and technology for uplifting the condition of common men.
