
With the past week registering a sudden upswing in the activities of the outlawed United Liberation Front of Assam ULFA that contradicted Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi8217;s claim that the situation had 8216;8216;remarkably improved8217;8217;, security forces have reportedly launched a fresh offensive against the militants.
The ULFA, since Tuesday last week, has triggered at least 30 explosions across the state, killing three persons, including a police officer, and injuring over 50. Four militants have also lost their lives in encounters during the week.
