Nehra gets county offers

The left-armer meets Gloster with progress report

.

Ashish Nehra has had his share of 8216;blunders8217; and is not taking any chances this time around. He would rather prefer a safer and assured way out. 8216;8216;I have come out of my injuries a wee bit early, but I am not going to do that now. I don8217;t want anything to bother me when I get back to bowling,8221; he said from Mumbai after meeing Team India physio John Gloster and his predecessor Andrew Leipus on Thursday.

Nehra, who is in Mumbai on a personal visit, took the opportunity to meet the physios and show his progress report to them. They, according to him, seem to have expressed satisfaction over his recovery. The former India speedster, who is gearing up for a county stint 8212; he has offers from Surrey and Glamorgan 8212; in England, will be ready in three weeks8217; time.

8216;8216;I will be playing in England to prove my fitness and stake claim for the Sri Lanka series,8221; he told The Indian Express from Mumbai. 8216;8216;They want me as soon as possible but I have told them I can8217;t make it soon. I just played a match for my club side and will play another in 10 days8217; time. I bowled well but I still need three weeks to get back and give 100 per cent,8217;8217; he added.

The Delhi left-arm speedster, who recorded the fastest delivery by an Indian during the World Cup, dismissed suggestions that he can8217;t get the same speed post-injury. 8216;8216;I am already bowling between 135-140 kmph at nets. I can feel that and speed is not a problem for me. It8217;s just about getting my rhythm back. After playing international cricket for so many years, I know speed alone cannot matter,8217;8217; said Nehra.
