Karmayogi award given
The Bombay Medical Aid Foundation presented the Karmayogi Puraskar to Dr Nemish A Shah at a felicitation function held on Wednesday. Dr Shah was honoured for his outstanding contribution to cardio-thracic surgery in India. He is one of the founding fathers of this surgical method in India. A well-known cardio-thoracic surgeon, he has been attached to the Bombay Hospital and Medical Research Centre for 43 years.
Principals8217; sit-in outside assembly
The Akhil Maharashtra Federation of Association of Principal8217;s of Non-Government Colleges has announced a sit-in outside the assembly on March 30 to focus the government8217;s attention on unsolved issues. The federation8217;s president, Sharad Advant, said their demands include grant on pro rata basis to be modified and revision should be done every three years on telephone and electricity tariff as well as on the stationery front. The federation also demanded 100 per cent grant for women8217;s colleges, free education to womentill graduation and women8217;s colleges. For women8217;s colleges and night colleges, the strength of the students at present a minimum of 24 students should not be the criteria to approve a teacher8217;s post, said general secretary K R Patil.
