Superintendent at CST awarded for honesty

Bhale Rao, Deputy Station Superintendent at the CST station has been awarded a medal by the Divisional Railway Manager in appreciation of his honesty and dedication to duty.

On July 3, Rao was handed over a lost bag by at CST. The bag contained blank signed cheques and demand drafts worth over Rs 10 lakh. The officer then went out of his way to contact the passenger in Nashik and handed over the bag to him.

Privatisation of lottery flayed

Agents of the Maharashtra Rajya Lottery MRL have protested against the privatisation of the state-owned lottery saying that stating that lottery vendors would lose heavily since buyers would lose faith in a brand not sold by the government.

There are over 350 MRL agents and some eight lakh sellers of the 30-year-old lottery throughout the state. According to lottery seller Suresh Shantilal Bhagat agents have begun a signature drive protesting the proposed move to tender out the state lottery to the highestbidder.

Foot over bridge at Sewri station

Minister of State for Railways Ram Naik inaugurated a new foot over bridge FOB at Sewri station on the harbour line on Sunday. Work on the bridge began in December last year and was completed in March this year at a cost of Rs 19 lakh. This 2.44 metre wide 17-metre-long FOB will be utilised by over 30,000 passengers daily.
