3 killed in slab fall
Three construction workers were killed when a concrete slab fell on them from the terrace of a seven-storeyed building at Andheri east this afternoon.

The construction of the building Amar Taru8217; at New Nagardas Road near Pinki Cinema was almost complete except some minor repair work in its front portion. Around a dozen workers were busy in the repairs.

Around 12.55 pm, the terrace slab fell on three workers who were identified as Ramesh Devram Murtiwala 19, Ramesh 25 and Abdul Aziz Maulana Jadiwala 26. The fire brigade arrived on the spot immediately. They extricated the bodies from under the rubble and rushed them to the Cooper Hospital where all of them were declared dead before admission. No other labourers were injured.

Writer of the controversial banned play Me e Nathuram Godse Boltoy I,am Nathuram Godse Speaking today filed an urgent writ petition in the Bombay High Court against the failure of thestate government to give formal orders of prohibition8217; for the staging of the play. The petition will come up for hearing on Monday. Playwright Pradip Dalvi said the petition filed is essentially to seek clarification from the government for their inability to give written intimation regarding the status of the play. He said he had served a notice to the government last month but received no response. The petition also submits that in case the order of prohibition was not served on any one including the director, producer, writer or artistes, it maybe presumed there is no ban on the play and its staging will be carried on. Girl leaps to death
A 22-year-old girl committed suicide by leaping from her seventh floor apartment at Mulund this afternoon. According the police, computer student Kavita Thakur Gidwani jumped from Island Park Building located at Mulund Colony around 2.30 pm. The suicide was a fallout of a broken love affair, the police suspect. Kavita was rushed to Mulund General Hospital,but was declared dead before admission, said the police.
