Good news too: No more water crisis
RAJKOT: Long queues were a common sight near public bore wells in Amreli, where each bucket of water cost the residents good money. In Jamnagar, residents had to make do with water supply thrice a week. With water level in major reservoirs hitting rock bottom, Saurashtra8217;s water supply was fast thinning to a trickle. But in a span of just three days, rains have washed away the region8217;s water woes. Of the 72 dams in Rajkot, Jamnagar, Surendranagar, Amreli and Porbandar, 27 are overflowing. Even check dams are full. The rest have registered a significant inflow, thereby resolving the region8217;s water crisis.

It advanced about 10 feet into Kanhupur village, damaging the government-run primary school and submerging a bore well catering to the drinking water needs of the local people. About 50 houses collapsed as tidal waves battered the villages, Das said.
