NEW DELHI, AUG 6: Most parts of India received excess to normal monsoon rains during the last two months, and the country will continue to receive normal rains in the coming two months, the Indian Meteorological Department IMD has announced.

In a mid-season assessment of this year8217;s south-west monsoon, IMD said that during June and July India received 49 per cent 8211; nearly half 8211; of the season8217;s normal rainfall.

The rainfall from June one to July 31 was quot;excess to normalquot; in 28 out of 35 meteorological sub-divisions of the country, covering 73 per cent area, IMD said in a statement today. About 65 per cent of the districts have received normal rainfall. Rainfall was deficient only in seven meteorological sub-divisions west Rajasthan; Saurashtra and Kutch; east MP; Orissa; TN and Pondicherry; Rayalseema in AP; and Andaman and Nicobar islands. In four of them west Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and Rayalseema the deficiency was only marginal.
