Copenhagen, May 22: Dane Mette Sorensen became the first European women's singles medalist at the World Championships in 16 years when she beat Commonwealth Champion Kelly Morgan last evening.Sorensen will meet Dai Yun tonight after the Chinese fourth seed's 6-11, 11-5, 11-7 win over South Korean Lee Kyung-won.China's Gong Ruina, the second seed, raced into the semi finals with an 18-minute 11-3, 11-2 win over Hartono Cindana of Indonesia. In the men's singles World No 1 Peter Gadechristensen won the all-Danish battle between the champion elect and the defending champion, beating Peter Rasmussen 15-4, 15-13.But Kenneth Jonassen was beaten by Taiwan's Fung Permadi 15-13, 12-15, 15-10. Sun Jun, the 1997 runner-up, kept China's hopes alive when he put out Thomas Stuer-Lauridsen 15-5, 15-13.
