Missed opportunity

Even as the Indian establishment is grappling to figure out China8217;s tough new stance on the border issue, it lost an opportunity when Taiwan8217;s leader of the Opposition and Kuomintang head Ma Ying-jeou arrived here last week. New Delhi backed off from highlighting his visit, his political meetings were kept low profile and top leaders refrained from meeting him. Ma delivered a lecture, met Karan Singh at the AICC office, had some business meetings and returned without creating a diplomatic flutter.
