Mayor sides with Cong

Mayor Vatsala Andekar may have abruptly cut short her impassioned speech following repeated interruptions by the BJP women corporators. But what did not miss the House8217;s attention was the manner in which she took up for the Congress party and its tradition.

8220;I have been elected on a Congress ticket and I know its tradition and conventions very well,8221; the Mayor who is a Pune Vikas Aghadi member told the House flatly refusing to believe that Congress workers could have carried out the dastardly act of setting the Navi Mumbai corporator Meena More afire.

This even led to a heated debate with the BJP women corporators who felt that the Mayor had targeted them by sharply criticising their demand of seeking protection.

Earlier, the Mayor also said that they would appeal against the Municipal Commissioner Rajiv Agarwal8217;s directive based on the Pune Municipal Court judge junior division Shiv Motriya8217;s interim order ruling against admitting urgent questions and point of information at the general body meeting.
